Lastentalo Mukulax (Kindergarten Mukulax) is a private Finnish kindergarten offering day care and a pre-school programme for children aged from one to seven. We value quality childcare with daily routines mixed with a spontaneous and unhurried atmosphere giving the children a feeling of security. Planned activities and interaction with the children promote individual ways of learning by playing, exploring, experimenting by themselves and marveling at new things. We also find good cooperation between the staff and families very important. Lastentalo Mukalax is located in Turku, South-West of Finland. We have 250 children and 50 adults divided into six different size of units catering mostly to Finnish speaking families. In some units day care is provided partially in English and Swedish. we are open from 7.00 r 7.30 a.m until 5.00 pm depending on the unit. Our motivation is develope childrens mathematic skills holistic way and also that educators can learn different ways of learning and teaching and will share ideas with educators from other European countries. We usually have two cordinators working together, so if other one leaves the other one can continue (this has been working very well in our Nordplusproject.) Our three main methods are learning by playing, working in small groups of 4-7 children with one adult and working with the same project or theme, the whole year. We also use digital methods in learning and teaching (photography, making powerpoints and movies, using computers in teaching), so we are very keen on enhancing digital integration in learning and teaching, training and youth work at various levels. Also our contact person and legal representative have both taken part in Comenius, Erasmus+ and Nordplus jnr projects.
